{"id":43,"date":"2016-08-23T14:05:46","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T14:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/?page_id=43"},"modified":"2019-09-26T16:43:46","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T16:43:46","slug":"constitution","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/index.php\/constitution\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-382\" src=\"https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HISAN.jpg\" alt=\"HISAN\" width=\"4264\" height=\"1793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HISAN.jpg 4264w, https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HISAN-300x126.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HISAN-768x323.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cube.skule.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HISAN-1024x431.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4264px) 100vw, 4264px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Name:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Club for Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering (CUBE)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Toronto St. George Chapter<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Purpose:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CUBE\u2019s mandate is to disseminate knowledge pertaining to the biomedical engineering field at the undergraduate level.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CUBE\u2019s goal is to emphasize the multidisciplinary aspects that are integrated into biomedical applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>MEANS:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CUBE\u2019s purpose is achieved by serving as a point of contact between students, researchers, and the industry. Monthly events will be held to provide members with the opportunity to explore and network with academic and industry professionals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Membership:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free membership is available to all members of the University of Toronto community, including students, staff, faculty, and alumni. CUBE is also open to non-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Toronto members, however they are excluded from the scope of rights to nominate, to be elected or re-elected on the executive team. All members are welcome to participate in CUBE events and activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Finances:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Institute for Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (IBBME) reimburses CUBE for its expenses. In addition, the Executive Committee is permitted to actively seek out alternative sources of funding so that CUBE can aim to increase its operating budget. Sources can be corporate, academic, government, or non-governmental.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CUBE is also permitted to receive funding in various forms such as in-kind services (alumni donations), monetary, resources (printed, web, or educational material), equipment (software, computers, office furniture, food, etc.). For special events, extra funding will be solicited from various sources.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Meetings:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the Summer Academic Term, Executive Committee meetings will be held as often as needed for the development and planning of events. Meetings can be conducted in person or through conference calls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General meetings (events) as advertised through various mediums will be held monthly and will be open to all CUBE members. Executive Committee meetings will be held bi-weekly during the Fall and Winter terms to ensure proper logistics and smooth execution of the general meetings. These meetings shall be scheduled in a workshop-style to facilitate group work and collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Elections<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current Co-Presidents are to call an election in the Winter Academic Term to determine the succeeding Co-Presidents. Each Executive\u2019s term runs from May 1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to April 30<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the following year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure that candidates for the position of CUBE Co-President are committed to the club and are deemed appropriate candidates, the person that intends to run for Co-President is recommended to meet any one (1) of the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The individual must have previously served at least one (1) year on the CUBE Executive Committee and have played an active role in organizing events that serve members throughout the course of their previous appointment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>OR<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The individual has been involved in the organization in at least three events\/initiatives that serve members throughout the course of the current Academic Year that the election is held in.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidates that meet this criterion can nominate themselves or can be nominated for the position by any member of the club or the Executive Committee. The nomination period should last a minimum of 1 week. The candidates running for the Co-President positions must apply by sending the club e-mail a brief statement of interest, proof of eligibility and any credentials that they wish to highlight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the event that sufficient candidates are not nominated by the end of the nomination period, the following actions are to be taken:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Extend the nomination period by 1 week<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open nomination to any general member of the club<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new Co-Presidents will be responsible for hiring the remaining members of the new Executive Committee. The hiring process will involve a call for applications, a review of applications and an interview process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The call for applications will be in the form of an online application form. Applicants will be asked to provide information as to why they would like to be part of CUBE, prior relevant experiences related to their intended positions and what they hope to achieve by being part of the Executive Committee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Amendments:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amendments to this Constitution proposed during the Fall or Winter term may be made at any General Meeting called for this purpose by the Executive Committee, with the approval of two-thirds of the members present.
