Name:

    CUBE, The Club for Biomedical Engineering, at University of Toronto

Purpose:

    Our goal is to provide members with the information about biomedical engineerin they dont have time to find. However, " biomedical engineering" is an ocean which reveals its secrets when dedicated divers work in tandem. Thus we requrie a "core group of minimum size.

Membership:

   Free membership is available to all members of the University of Toronto community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni). It is attained by giving one’s name, phone number, and e-mail address to the CUBE president.

Finances:

   “The IBBME (Institute for Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering) reimburses CUBE for its expenses. In addition, the CUBE Executive is permitted to actively seek out alternative sources of funding (be it corporate, academia, government, non-governmental) as well as receive funding in various forms, e.g. in-kind services, monetary, resources (printed, web or educational material), equipment (i.e. software, laptop, office furniture, food, etc.) so that CUBE can actively seek to INCREASE ITS OPERATING BUDGET. For special events, extra funding will be solicited from various sources.

Meetings:

   A general meeting will be held at least every two months, advertised by e-mails and posters.

Elections:

   The president is to call an election in the second academic term to determine the following year’s executives (see item 4). Each executive’s term runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.To ensure that candidates for the position of CUBE president are committed to our club and are deemed appropriate candidates, the person that intends to run for this position must first meet any ONE of the following requirements:

        Individual must have served at least one year on CUBE Executive and must have played an active role in organizing events that serve CUBE members throughout the course of the current academic year the election is held in.

   Individual must have been involved in the organization of at least three events/initiatives that serve CUBE members throughout the course of the current academic year the election is held in.

Amendments:

   Amendments to this Constitution may be made at any General Meeting called for this purpose by the Executive Committee, with the approval of two-thirds of the members present. Notice of proposed amendments shall be given to the membership not less than two weeks in advance of the meeting. The president will notify the Office of Student Affairs and SAC to effect the change.

Representation:

   For any CUBE member wishing to attend a conference on behalf of CUBE, they will need to be involved in the organization of, at least ONE event prior to the conference. Each conference attendee will be required to come back and make a presentation and talk about the experience at a CUBE general meeting.Each attendee will also be required to invite at least ONE speaker back to CUBE for a guest lecture. To ensure that as many CUBE members get to attend conferences as possible, each CUBE member can only attend one conference from July 1st of the current year ?June 30th of the following year. An essay application will also be required to select the best representative for CUBE, as determined by the current CUBE Exec (defined as the executive elected as of April prior to the start of the current academic year and also who do not have any intention to attend), out of all the potential candidates that meet the aforementioned criteria. Should there be any conflict of interest, the Director of the IBBME will be requested to arbitrate and make the final decision.

   Questions for the application to attend a conference will be as follows:
